How do you help clients?
I transform visual designs into interactive websites and software.
What led you to here?
I’m related to Jason’s (one of the Far Reach partners) wife. He brought me to the office on a weekend in October 2009. He was always trying to encourage me to come in, check it out, and head in
that direction.
I went to Hawkeye and changed my major to the web development program. Then I realized that’s the direction I wanted to go in and started here in September 2011 as an intern. I started full time in February 2013.
Tell us about your background or training.
I completed the web development program at Hawkeye Community College. My internship at Far Reach is what really kick-started that experience and took it to a whole new level. I got real-world
experience.
What is your work mantra?
Always continue to learn new and better ways to do your job.
What guides you?
Serving clients and responding right away when they have an issue. I want them to see that I do care when they have an issue. I want them to know I’m approachable if they have issues. Some clients worry they’re
bothering me, but that’s what I’m here for.
What are you reading?
I’m reading “Scrum: The Art of Doing Twice the Work in Half the Time” for the Far Reach book
club.
Who do you follow?
Smashing Magazine, anything Sitefinity-related,
and the Nerdery on Facebook. If I need to do some training, I’ll watch a video on Pluralsite.
What’s your favorite app?
The one I use the most is Outlook for email. I’m on Facebook a lot, too.
Where do you see the field going in 1-3 years? The demand for responsive websites is going
to continue to grow. Companies are going to look for different ways to reach their market. Websites are a huge way to do that because everyone’s always on their phone. Technology is a big part of everyone’s life.
